Course Description:

This course in an introduction to stage lighting practice. Students will examine how lighting systems and equipment work and how they are used to light the stage. Students will be able to use basic lighting technology safely and understand basic electrical theory and practice. This course is also an introduction to how light is used as an artistic expression in theatre.

Course Objectives and College Wide Learning Outcomes

In this course, the College-wide learning outcomes that will be stressed with be Thinking Skills and Group Effectiveness. This course is hands-on and practical in nature. As students you will be required to obtain skills in the safe and efficient handling of electrical stage lighting equipment through demonstration and practice. Stage lighting is a team effort, requiring individuals to coordinate their efforts in order to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.

Attendance Policy

Students are required to attend all labs in order to practice of hands-on techniques.
