Goals of Evaluation
Before beginning an evaluation process you need to be clear about the goals of the process. More information will appear here as the work of the committee continues....
Summative
Formative
There is some disccussion that peer evaluations in particular should be used only for formative purposes - see Brian's presentation.
Punitive?
It would be useful to decouple evaluation from the unspoken, but deeply and widely held notion that it must be punitive in nature, and focus only on those aspects of teaching that aren't going well. sigh.....
The aim of the TARGET group is to seek out, evaluate, and make available to the Mount Royal Community materials which may inform the evaluation of teaching for the purposes of professional development, summative assessment, and/or formal evaluation.
