Position Title:
Educational Technology Integration Coordinator
Academic Development Centre
Description:
The Academic Development Centre facilitates teaching excellence and innovation
by supporting the faculty of Mount Royal College in the following areas: faculty
development, instructional design, curriculum development, educational technology
training, media production, and distributed learning.
Reporting to the Director, Academic Development Centre, the Coordinator of
Educational Technology Integration conceives and coordinates professional development
and training opportunities for Mount Royal faculty focused on the effective
integration of learning technologies in the teaching-learning process. Training
and professional development activities overseen by the Coordinator of Educational
Technology Integration include workshops and workshop series, day-long seminars,
discussion series, faculty learning community initiatives, and electronic bulletins/publications.
Duties: Major responsibilities of the position include:
- Facilitating the Faculty Learning Community for Blended Delivery
initiative, a year-long faculty development activity supporting cohorts of
faculty in the
development of courseware for blended delivery
- Supporting faculty in the effective implementation of web-based
courseware for blended and fully-online delivery
- Consulting with faculty on use of learning technologies, synchronous
and asynchronous, in campus-based and distributed contexts
- Spearheading investigation, piloting and evaluation of emerging
learning technologies
- Supporting faculty in the evaluation of technology-enabled innovations
in teaching and learning through applied research
- Co-chairing the Teaching, Learning, Technology Roundtable, a cross-disciplinary
College committee dealing with issues related to the use of technology
in the teaching-learning process
Qualifications/Expertise:
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of learning theories, principles of effective practice
in undergraduate teaching, and the principles/practice of instructional design
- Conversant in new and emerging technologies for teaching and learning
including the world wide web, course management systems, multimedia
elements and other reuseable learning objects, advanced networks, and synchronous/asynchronous
tools for communication and collaboration
- Ability to advise on effective instructional methodologies from
a variety of pedagogical orientations
- Knowledge of, and experience with, learning communities in the
context of faculty development
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment
- Experience in applied research on teaching-learning innovations
involving technology is a distinct asset
Academic:
- Graduate degree in education, educational technology or adult education.
Masters required, PhD or EdD preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of directly-related experience (e.g. courseware
development; distance teaching; faculty development in educational technology)
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level an asset
