Expertise

e-Learning Specialist / Program Manager

·         Designed and managed the Certificate in e-Learning: Design and Facilitate Learning Online program for University of Calgary Continuing Education. This program is just a year old but it is growing quickly.

·         Supported the migration of the Certificate in Adult Learning program to online delivery and managed the program for a year.

·         Managed two annual major online conferences and a monthly showcase website for University of Calgary Continuing Education about sharing best practices in e-learning. The showcase site has a monthly newsletter that is e-mailed out to over 2000 subscribers from around the world.

·         Providing e-learning support to the online programs in for University of Calgary Continuing Education.

Instructional Designer / Courseware Developer / Project Manager

 

·         Designed and developed web-based interactive courseware for many UofC online courses using: Blackboard, WebCT, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Freehand, PowerPoint, Breeze, Captivate, Hot Potatoes, Quandary, ShowBiz DVD and Sorenson Squeeze.

·         Designed and managed the development team of the following courses and programs at Bow Valley College: Science 10, Biology 30, English 10, 13, 20, 23, 30 & 33, Web Site Development, Desktop Publishing, Basic Math, and Pre Employment Skills.

·         Designed and wrote two CTS modules on MS Excel 97 for Alberta Education to be distributed through the Learning Resource Distribution Centre.

·         Designed, developed and instructed the following courses using the respective technologies: Math 33 and VMS-Mail Training using E-Mail, Computer Processing 10, 20, 30 and Physics 10 using CML

Distance Learning Network Designer and Manager

 

·         Planned and implemented an Internet based instructional support and learner support system using WebCT, which currently spans Southern Alberta ranging from Red Deer to Lethbridge. This system currently support over 1800 student accounts in 12 communities. Programs supported include academic upgrading, English as a second language, and Licensed Practical Nursing. I am currently the administrator of this system and provide training and support to the instructors using it.

·         Planned and implemented audiographic teleconferencing in the Northern Lakes College system that now supports approximately 650 learners a year. Programs delivered include a core high school program, several university credit and career training courses. This network includes 31 audiographic teleconferencing units in 21 communities spread out over an area of over 60,000 square kilometers. I am currently involved in the management of the network and professional development of the instructors and learning support staff involved.

·         I have successfully provide consulting and training services to the following clients: Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Calgary Police Services, United Farmers of Alberta, Canada BrokerLink, Bow Valley College, Northern Lakes College, NorQuest College, Lakeland College, Grande Prairie Regional College, Adult Literacy Project, Alberta Public Safety Services, Family and Social Welfare, Athabasca University, Grant MacEwan Community College and Lethbridge Community College

·         The technologies involved included Blackboard, Macromedia Breeze, WebCT, E-Mail, Computer Conferencing, Internet Tools, Video Conferencing, Audiographic Teleconferencing, and CML/CAI Systems.

·         At the University of Calgary I have designed, developed and teach courses in Instructional Design, Teaching with Computer Games, Learning Online, Using the Internet for Business, Building a Web-Based Business and Building Training systems using the Internet that are delivered entirely over the Internet using WebCT.

·         Instructed the following Continuing Education courses at Bow Valley College: Corel Draw!, MS Word, Simply Accounting, Intro to Computers, Internet, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows 95 and Web Site Development via the Internet.

·         Instructed the following Continuing Education courses at AVC-Lesser Slave Lake: MS Publisher, Developing Web Pages, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, WordPerfect, MS Windows 95, MS Windows 3.1, MS DOS, and Programming in Basic.

·         Instructed numerous staff training workshops and tutorials on the application of computers and Information Technologies with the particular focus on enhancing workplace productivity.

·         Instructed Computer Science courses full-time for 3 years in Northern Lakes College. Including computer application courses in the Business Careers program.
